Employees at a Waterville auto body manufacturing plant repeatedly informed management of fall and noise hazards but these reports went ignored until OSHA opened an investigation on Oct. 1, 2020, in response to a lawsuit. The Shyft Group Duramag LLC – formerly F3 MFG Inc. – receives proposed penalties of $393,992 for failing to fix these and other risks that put workers in danger. OSHA issued citations to the plant for two intentional and ten serious offenses. The firm has 15 business days from the date of receipt of its citations and fines to comply, seek an informal meeting with OSHA’s area chief, or challenge the conclusions before the independent Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
