Seneca Foods fined by OSHA as a worker who experiences significant injury after being hit by a forklift at their Wisconsin plant.

At a Ripon facility where vegetables are canned for Libby’s and numerous other companies, a forklift hit and fatally wounded a 60-year-old seasonal employee as she headed toward a pallet to tag items for delivery. Seneca Foods, headquartered in Marion, New York, is one of North America’s largest suppliers of processed fruits and vegetables, exporting to over 90 countries. The corporation imports from over 1,600 American farms for its Libby’s, Aunt Nellie’s, Green Valley, and Seneca brands. Seneca Foods Corp. was fined $177,490 by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for two repeated and three major safety violations regarding forklift training and machine safety protocols at the canning plant.
