OSHA inspectors have found a Canton, OH automotive steel mill to neglect safety measures regarding machine guarding and LOTO procedures. OSHA found the company, Republic Steel, to not provide adequate safety training to its employees. The company failed to provide adequate training to safely operate cranes and forklifts and to ensure their workers followed safe electrical practices. They also exposed their workers to fall hazards. This lack of safety procedures has exposed workers to amputation hazards. OSHA cited Republic Steel for one repeat, seven serious, and three other-than-serious safety violations. It had fined them for similar violations in 2017 as well. This time, the fine is $ 220,399. They have 15 days to pay the fine or appeal against it to the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
