Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training (US)
Why do you need to know about Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, or CPR? Cardiac arrest is a life-threatening condition. Cardiac arrest occurs when the heart develops an arrhythmia (or erratic heart beat). Blood is not circulated through the body when this happens, which is the reason why a pulse might not be felt. Without intervention, the heart will stop beating. In the majority of cardiac arrests, the critical initial elements of CPR are chest compression and early defibrillation.
