Chromium (VI) Awareness Online

Workers who are exposed to Chromium (VI) must receive appropriate training in accordance with OSHA regulations to ensure awareness of associated health hazards and safe work practices. This Chromium Awareness Training should be completed prior to initial job assignment and whenever new exposure risks are introduced. Refresher training may be required periodically to maintain compliance and reinforce safe handling procedures. Employers are responsible for ensuring that all affected employees understand chromium-6 side effects, exposure limits, and control measures necessary to maintain workplace safety. Employers must also provide site-specific training that addresses the particular processes, materials, and exposure conditions present in the workplace. This includes proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), engineering controls, and hygiene practices. Training must be documented and made available upon request to demonstrate OSHA compliance. Employers should ensure that employees have access to safety data sheets (SDS) and are informed about emergency procedures in the event of accidental exposure.
