Training Process

This course is designed to help law enforcement personnel meet the Hazardous Materials First Responder Awareness (FRA) Level I Responder training requirement, including the Downloadable ERG, in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.120(q)(6)(i) and 29 CFR 1926.65(q)(6)(i). Participants should combine this training with company- or agency-specific instruction on their Emergency Response Plan (ERP), including policies and procedures for handling hazardous materials incidents. When applicable, employees must also receive additional training on the specific hazards associated with their roles, as required by OSHA. Employers should ensure credibility by supplementing outside training with site-specific instruction, addressing unique workplace hazards, equipment, safety policies, and emergency procedures. Proper documentation of this training is essential. Students do not need to take both FRA and FRO courses, as FRO training builds upon FRA knowledge and covers both levels if required.
