Lead Awareness for General Industry Online

This online Lead Awareness course for General Industry teaches the dangers of lead, common exposure sites, and protective measures. It introduces OSHA’s lead standard for general industry (29 CFR 1910.1025, Subpart Z). The same requirements apply to shipyard work under 29 CFR 1915.1025. The course serves as both initial and annual refresher training. It covers lead exposure in construction activities like demolition and renovation, as well as general industry tasks such as brake and clutch repair, custodial work, and manufacturing lead-containing products.

Training Process

If workplace lead exposure exceeds the Permissible Exposure Level (PEL), additional training on provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required. This site-specific training must occur before initial assignment and at least annually. It applies to General Industry and Shipyard Industry, not Construction. Lead abatement workers must follow local, state, or EPA standards—this is only awareness training. Workers also need job-specific hazard training as required by OSHA. Using external training providers adds credibility, but employers must supplement this with documented, site-specific training covering their unique equipment, safety policies, and emergency procedures.
