Making Meetings Work I: Purpose and Preparation
This course will help you determine the cost benefit of calling a meeting and help to determine if you really have to meet. When you must meet, this course will help you accomplish the goals of the group without wasting time or money. If you ask people if they’ve been to any good meetings lately, you may get some strange looks. To some people, that’s like asking if they’ve had any enjoyable dental surgery lately — both can be negative experiences. People get frustrated when meetings don’t work — when they fail to make the most of the group’s potential. The problem of ineffective meetings is widespread. In fact, 70% of managers consider many of the meetings they sit through to be a waste of time. Despite this, 67% said that they had to attend more meetings this year than last. Meetings do not have to be negative.
