Training Process

This course is designed to help workers fulfill the OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER training requirement under 29 CFR 1910.120(e)(3)(i) and 29 CFR 1926.65(e)(3)(i). In addition to this core training, workers may need further instruction as mandated by federal, state, or local regulations, focusing on the specific hazards of their job. Training on the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and chemical protective clothing during emergency response is also required and should be provided by the employer. While external training providers can ensure credibility and supplement a company’s safety program, employees must also receive site-specific training from their employer. This should cover the company’s approach to hazard prevention, use of equipment, health and safety policies, and emergency procedures, and it should be properly documented. After completing the 40-hour course, OSHA mandates that workers gain supervised field experience. General site workers, including equipment operators, laborers, and supervisors, must complete at least three days of on-site, hands-on experience under direct supervision. This ensures new employees are not left unsupervised and can safely apply their training in real work conditions.
