Trade Secrets
This course discusses the importance of safeguarding a company’s trade secrets in order to keep a competitive edge in the marketplace. Basic definitions, risks involved in revealing trade secrets, and guidelines and procedures for keeping trade secrets safe will also be covered in this course. This course also describes what a trade secret is and distinguishes it from other forms of intellectual property, such as a patent or copyright. It also distinguishes trade secrets from other types of confidential information, such as strategic, financial, or customer information. Some employees have regular access to, and daily involvement with, company trade secrets, and they bear an extra weight of responsibility for safeguarding them. At the same time, all employees are responsible for protecting these valuable assets. Responsibilities for safekeeping confidential information and protecting trade secrets from accidental exposure or theft will also be presented in this course.
