OSHA Training Obligations You Need To Know For Maine

The Maine State Plan is administered by two separate regulatory bodies that apply to employers and employees. Although the training requirements for public sector employees are similar to those of Federal Standards, extra training may be necessary, such as that needed by Maine's VDT Standards (MRSA Title 26, 252). To further assist the employees and employers OSHA MDOL offers free consulting.

Federal OSHA and MDOL recommend that entry-level workers have exposure to a general overview of site safety since Federal OSHA Standards require training on specific topics for every worker under its jurisdiction. MDOL's website encourages public sector employers to be in a similar category. Because of this, the Federal OSHA has solely created 30 Hour training for managers and supervisors and 10 Hour courses for novice workers. OSHA recommends OSHA Outreach Training even though it is not required because most employers in Maine need "Department of Labor Cards" as a requirement for their safety training.
